I am not a 'world traveler' and the only Caribbean islands that I have been to are Providenciales. In fact, based on research that I did on the various islands of the Caribbean I was frankly reluctant to go to any of them. Everything I read talked about the highly developed tourism, crowded beaches, wild nite life, and most disturbing how the countries pushed their own people into the background sacrificing their welfare for the almighty dollar. Then I found the Turks & Caicos Islands. The more information I found about the islands the more I appreciated the controlled growth that the government exercised. The T&C islands has one of the highest literacy rates of any of the islands in the caribbean. They have taken great measures to ensure that the natural resources and beauty of the islands will remain for future generations. They have established laws to ensure a high rate of employment of the 'belongers', those who where born and raised on the islands. They keep the growth of resorts and such under control so as not to destroy the natural beauty or over burden the economy. Through all these efforts the government has succeeded in keeping Provo the closest thing to Paradise this side of heaven and freely allows those of us who are unfortunate enough to live anywhere else on this planet the opportunity to visit from time to time and escape the maddening pace and stress of day to day life. For this, I am eternally grateful and am proud to be able to share with others the wonders of Provo through these home pages.
